ROCZEN HAS SUCCESSFUL SURGERY
A
ccording to the Honda HRC
Team, Ken Roczen went
under the knife on Friday, Febru-
ary 16, to repair the hand that
was injured during the San Diego
Supercross, February 10.
The surgery was performed
by Dr. Randy Viola at the Stead-
man Clinic in Vail, Colorado, and
was reported to be a success.
Dr. Viola cleaned up a chip at
the base of the thumb and hook
of hamate (a bone near the little
finger), repaired the fractured
second metacarpal with a plate
and screws, and also repaired
torn ligaments.
Roczen's initial prognosis is
six-to-eight weeks, but he will be
reevaluated throughout his recov-
ery, and he plans to attend several
races and dealer appearances.
Roczen posted on Instagram:
"Once again there was a lot
going on here. Shattered hand,
dislocation of all metacarpals and
torn ligaments. Been in A LOT of
pain since the surgery. Some-
times we get tested in life. We
take care of this shit and come
back and try this again." CN

BARCIA OUT WITH
BROKEN HAND

ustin Barcia underwent surgery on his hand that
was broken in the first 450SX heat race at the
Monster Energy AMA Supercross in Arlington, Texas,
February 17. He reported on his Instagram account
before the surgery: "Small set back will have surgery
tomorrow [Monday] and be back at it in no time. Luck-
ily it's just my hand and I can still keep my fitness up
off the bike!"
Barcia was holding down second place in the
championship before the Texas race. He's now sixth
in points. CN
Monster Energy/Knich/Factory Yamaha's Justin Barcia
hopes to return to racing soon after breaking his hand at
the Texas Supercross in Arlington.
