CHAMPIONSHIP
VOL. 55 ISSUE 6 FEBRUARY 13, 2018 P51
Peick in seventh, and then Mon-
ster Energy/Knich/Yamalube
Yamaha's Justin Barcia in eighth.
Barcia ran as high as third until he
encountered trouble late in the
race.
"I've just been putting myself in
good positions and I've just been
fighting," Anderson said. "That
race was pretty tough because I
followed Cole, got around him. He
made a few mistakes. And then
Marv [Musquin] was coming, so I
really had to keep my head down.
But, man, I'm excited to keep get-
ting these wins and podiums and
just grateful for the opportunities."
ROCZEN'S OTHER ARM
Ken Roczen had a very scary crash
early in the main event when he
dove to the inside of Cooper Webb,
grabbed a handful of throttle, and
then looped out exiting the corner.
He collided with Webb, and as
he went down his right hand—i.e.,
his "good" hand—got sucked into
Webb's spinning rear wheel, be-
tween the spokes and the swing-
arm. Roczen immediately pulled his
arm back out but was in obvious
pain. He was taken to the Alpin-
estars Mobile Medical Unit, where
it was determined he has a fracture
to the second metacarpal in his
right hand. A release from Honda
states that Roczen followed up with
his regular physician and is already
scheduled to have surgery with
Dr. Randy Viola (the surgeon who
performed all of his procedures in
2017) on Friday, February 16.
"I just want to forget about this
weekend," said Roczen. "The first
thing I thought about on the ground
was my team and all the hard work
we've put in to get back to this
point. I came into the corner with
good speed, got on the gas and
then caught a ton of traction in the
rut, lost my balance and whisky-
throttled the bike into [Cooper]
Webb. My arm went in between his
wheel and swingarm. We've already
made the necessary calls to Dr.
Briefly...
Blake Baggett (4)
couldn't stay in
front of Musquin
but did get on the
podium for the
second week in
a row.
Viola and are going to get every-
thing fixed up. I might be able to be
back pretty quick; we'll know more
soon."
WEIMER'S WRIST
Motoconcepts/SmarTop Honda's
Jake Weimer went down over the
Dragon's Back in the first 450SX
practice of the day and ended up
with a fractured wrist. There's no
news yet about how long he's back
down for.
BOGLE'S ARM
AutoTrader/JGR Suzuki's Justin
Bogle, in just his third race back
from injury (just like Weimer), got
collected with privateer Ben Lamay
in their heat race and went down
hard, breaking his right humerus.
He'll be out indefinitely as well.
GREEN PARTY
Kawasaki teammates Josh Grant
and Eli Tomac got together in
the first turn of the 450SX main,
effectively ruining their evening.
"The night was going good," Grant
said. "We started off really decent,
running in the top three in the heat
race. Peick got me at the end, but I
ended up getting a good spot for a
gate pick for the main. In the main
event, I kind of hooked bars with
Baggett and Bloss, and when I went
into the first turn, I actually felt like
