Off the start of the 90-minute
$2000 WCGP, FMF/Wiseco/
Seven FX 450-mounted Bell
trailed only FMF KTM Factory
Off-road Racing Team's Kailub
Russell and Justin Jones. Rus-
sell quickly took himself out of
the hunt with the first of several
crashes, leaving Monster En-
ergy/STI/Fly Racing CRF450R
rider Jones just ahead of Bell for
the first lap.
"It was really hard to see out
there [because of the dust and
setting sun] so I knew I needed
to make the pass quick so I put
myself in first and just kept an
eye on those guys the rest of the
race," Bell said. "I rode my own
race to a repeat of last year.
"Last year we took it race by
race and this year it's race by
race."
Rockstar Energy Husqvarna
Factory Racing Off-Road Team's
Shirey didn't enjoy the best start
on his Motorex/FMF/Fly Rac-
"I only had a few days on the
bike before the first round," Bell
said. "We didn't want to do a
lot of [rushed] testing and just
be a head case so we took last
month and really started testing,
doing our motos and getting my
shoulder better—I dislocated it in
the first round on the first lap so
that was part of the issue."
