IN THE WIND P50 2018 ALTA MXR REVEALED A lta Motors introduced what it calls its next-generation off- road motorcycle—the 2018 Red- shift MXR. The electric-powered Redshift MXR comes with a lower price tag of $11,995, with the option of a new Rapid charger for $799 or Standard at $499. According to Alta, the newest Alta Redshift MXR has many enhancements, most notably its new R-Pack and proprietary power control systems. The MXR delivers 50 horsepower and 147 lb-ft of torque at the coun- tershaft, versus the 2017 Redshift MX's 40 horsepower and 120 lb-ft. The bike is also eight pounds lighter and features upgrades to its WP suspension components. "We've updated and enhanced well over 20% of the parts on the Redshift, demonstrating Alta's commitment to leading the devel- opment of electric motorcycles and producing the best motor- cycle in the world," said Derek Dorresteyn, Chief Technical Of- ficer. "The 2018 MXR's increased performance, better control, and lower mass all add up to more fun on the track or trail. When coupled with Alta's revolutionary adjust- able throttle mapping systems, the MXR delivers an unmatched capability to our riders." CN Alta's 2018 Redshift MXR is said to have more power and torque and weigh less— not to mention, cost less, too.
