KTM INTRODUCES RC 390 R, RACE KIT,
MOTOAMERICA ORANGE BRIGADE TEAM

TM has released details of
the new RC 390 R machine
that will be homologated to race
in the MotoAmerica Junior Cup
category for 2018, as well as
announcing the race kit and in-
tegration to the Orange Brigade
for two of North America's top
young racers.
The new $8499 RC 390 R will
be sold alongside the regular RC
390 but come with fully adjust-
able WP suspension, a CNC-ma-
chined triple clamp, new clip-on
handlebars and a shorter intake
snorkel to help spread the 390
R's 44 ponies across a wider
span of revs.
Where KTM is offering some-
thing different in the Junior Cup
is the factory Race Kit, which
comes with a host of goodies to
turn the 390 R into a full-on race
weapon.
For an extra $10,999.99, the
kit comes with over 230 individ-
ual parts and everything needed
for FIM competition, including a
full titanium Akrapovic SSP300
EVO02 system with a race ECU,
STM slipper clutch, quickshifter
(which is actually not allowed
under MotoAmerica rules), wiring
harness, spare wheels, a huge
selection of gearing options,
increased cooling system and a
full bodywork kit.
As for the integration into the
Orange Brigade, made famous
by KTM's off-road racing ex-
ploits, Alex Dumas and Sean Un-
gvarsky will front the company's
road racing efforts, with mentor-
ship and coaching by KTM's
former AMA Pro Superbike racer
Chris Fillmore, who will be on-
site on race weekends.
KTM North America is offering
$25,500 in KTM Cash contin-
gency for the MotoAmerica Ju-
nior Cup, as well as an additional
$26,000 in championship cash
bonus payout for the 2018 sea-
son. The overall championship
bonus structure is as follows:
1st: $15,000; 2nd: $7500; 3rd:
