MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS, AN FIM WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
ROUND 5 / FEBRUARY 3, 2018
OAKLAND COLISEUM / OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA
P60
250SX WEST
In the last year, Aaron Plessinger
has certainly matured as a racer.
In 2017, he was faced with the
prospect of leading a champi-
onship-winning team for the first
time, after the departure of Jer-
emy Martin and Cooper Webb,
who had five titles between them
over the previous three years.
Plessinger didn't handle that
pressure as many expected him
to. But, in 2018, he's showing
he's up to the challenge.
Coming into Oakland, Plessinger
led the points for the second time
in the young season, and despite
being sick with major chest and
head congestion he was deter-
mined to fight through it to carry
the red plate out of Oakland.
Plessinger won his heat race but
was trying to conserve energy for
the main event, and he didn't do
himself many favors by starting
near the tail end of the top 10 at
the start of the main before he
started his ascent through the
field. He was sixth by the end of
lap one and passed Monster En-
ergy Pro Circuit Kawasaki's Joey
Savatgy for third on lap seven
before overtaking TLD Red Bull
Aaron Plessinger (23)
and Joey Savatgy (17)
battled it out for the
250SX West main win.
Plessinger toughed it
out for the victory.
