250SX WEST
There's a tight points race at the
front of the 250SX Western Re-
gional Supercross Series, and
after a pretty awful race a week
ago at Anaheim II, Plessinger
took back championship lead
with a dominant performance.
Monster Energy/Pro Circuit
Kawasaki's Joey Savatgy got
the early lead in the main event
but quickly came under attack
from TLD/Red Bull KTM's Shane
McElrath, who took over the
lead for a while. But Plessinger
was coming through the top part
of the field like a freight train,
and soon joined the battle up
front.
After a few laps working on
McElrath, Plessinger finally
made the pass stick, and as
McElrath attempted to retaliate,
Plessinger cut over on his long-
time racing compatriot and they
nearly collided. McElrath was
incensed, but Plessinger got
away.
It wasn't long before McEl-
rath came back under fire from
Savatgy, but the Kawasaki pilot
had a tip-over and handed the
third spot to his teammate Adam
Cianciarulo.
Through the final laps, Cian-
ciarulo gained steadily on the
lead pair of racers, but ran out of
time and settled for third behind
Shane McElrath tries to hold
off Plessinger while leading.
He and Joey Savatgy will
hand over the red plate to
Plessinger for next week's
race in Oakland. One point
separates the two.
