IN THE WIND P42 GOT SIX MINUTES TO SPARE? CHECK OUT SLAYGROUND 2! C alifornian Axell Hodges is at it again, this time releasing the second installment of Dirt Shark—Slayground 2, filmed on location at Jer- emy McGrath's ranch in San Diego, California. Hodges has made quite a name for himself as Monster Energy's FMX poster boy, throwing down massive whips and stylish old-school tricks like the original Hart Attack and Nac Nac, rather than back flipping off every ramp he hits. For Slayground 2, however, Hodges adds another level of precision with a huge motorcycle half-pipe, requiring incredible precision to land as he points his Kawasaki vertically nose down while over 30 feet in the air. Hodges' laissez-faire approach to riding and entertaining social media activities has earned him a legion of fans in a sport that hasn't seen mainstream publicity since the heydays of Pas- trana, Metzger and Hart, and regardless of your opinion of FMX riding, you cannot deny, this boy has skill. CN BONHAMS LAS VEGAS AUCTION TOPS $2.86 MILLION T he annual Bonhams Las Vegas Motorcycle Auction broke the record for the highest price paid for a collector motorcycle when an unnamed Australian buyer paid $929,000 for the Vincent Black Light- ning fellow Australian Jack Ehret used to set a world speed record of 141.5 mph in 1953. The Vincent is one of 33 made and will now head back its original home of Australia. "Of course, seeing the Vincent Black Lightning achieve history—as well as go back home to Australia— was a real privilege," Ben Walker, Bonham's Head of International Motorcycle Sales, told journal.clas- siccars.com. Other machines to hit high figures include a 1939 Brough Superior SS80 sold for $120,500, a 1955 Vincent Black Prince selling for $104,650, and a 1950 Vincent Rapide C going for $92,000. However, it was a somewhat newer machine that had people talking in Las Vegas, when Hollywood stuntman Tom McComas's original 1990 Honda RC30 sold for a staggering $92,000. McCo- mas also sold a 1991 Yamaha FZR750RT OW01 for $34,500. CN This Vincent Black Lightning sold for an incredible $929,000 in Las Vegas.
