IN THE WIND P34 FERDERER WINS SEVILLE EAST ISDE QUALIFIER T he first of three Eastern ISDE two-day qualifiers got under- way in Sevelle, Florida, January 27-28, and riders from all over took their first shot at repre- senting the U.S. in this year's International Six Days of Enduro, which will be held in Vina Del Mar, Chile. Riders from Min- nesota, California, Utah, Texas, Kentucky, Alabama, Arkansas, Michigan, Virginia signed up to do battle. Two-time ISDE medalist Nate Ferderer ended up dominat- ing the race, his name finishing at the top of the charts after both days. He rode his Check- point Off-Road KTM 350 XC-F through the sand and palmettos and opened up a 39-second lead over Grizzly Peak Yamaha- backed Jacob Rowland. Rowland is looking to make his second ISDE trip in a row but mistakes like arriving at the start a few seconds late may make it tougher to qualify. He would finish Sunday in seventh after a 60-second penalty was assessed, but he still second overall on the weekend. P. Trent Wisenant made a solid run aboard his new Gas- Gas, finishing fifth on day one and second on day two. He is looking to get to the ISDE again after a frustrating DNF in France last year. Another rider making his comeback run at the ISDE is California's AJ Lehr. He qualified last season through the Eastern Qualifiers, traveling to all qualifi- ers, both east and west. Then at the second Western ISDE Quali- fier he crashed and sustained a severe concussion and was off the bike for the rest of the season. He is working on mak- ing this his fourth ISDE, finishing fourth and third on the weekend for fourth overall. Rounding out the top five was Marionville Powersports Yama- ha's James King who had a great first day in third but struggled the second day and finished sixth. The U.S. ISDE team is, as always, fielding a 40-plus-rider team and there are some great names trying to make the team again! Jaysen Densley is one of them, as he is looking to make his third ISDE. He took the E4- class win on both days, followed by Brian Storrie who hopes to qualify for his 15th ISDE! CN Nate Ferderer won the opening round of the East ISDE Qualifier Series in Florida.
