NEW TRIUMPH SPEED TRIPLE COMING
T
riumph's Speed Triple will at last be getting its
first major revision in seven years, judging by
these two rather cheesy teaser videos.
Staring Triumph ambassadors Carl Fogarty and
Gary Johnson, the two Isle of Man TT legends can
be seen blasting around on a redesigned model
that carries much of the tech we saw with the 2017
Street Triple 765 RS.
At a glance, the 1050cc Speed Triple will get a
new dash, new lights, Brembo brakes, black Ohlins
forks, new five-spoke wheels, exhaust and tank
design, although Triumph USA is keeping very tight-
lipped on the technical changes within the motor
itself, saying only that all will be revealed February 5.
We'll be testing this bad boy in the coming
months and if the new Speed Triple is anything like
the Street Triple, Triumph will be right back in the
super-naked big leagues this year. CN
OH, DEAR GOD, NO! MAKE IT STOP!
E
ach year, the MotoGP teams and their respec-
tive riders unveil their new colors to the press
in some swanky do, usually in Europe. It serves
as an occasion for the riders to say one-liners like
"we'll give 100 percent every time" and "we
hope to fight for the championship"—as if they
wouldn't, anyway, right?
However, this year, Yamaha released one of
the cheesiest videos ever created this side of
a dairy cow, with Maverick Vinales and Valen-
tino Rossi in some pseudo glam rock band,
where Rossi is lead guitarist and drummer
and keyboard in the same song, with Vinales
playing back up on the guitar and keyboard.
We'll just leave this with you, for your viewing
pleasure. It'd be funny if Yamaha didn't actually try
to make the video so serious. Don't quit your day
job, boys. CN
