SUPERCROSS M O N S T E R E N E R G Y A M A S U P E R C R O S S , A N F I M W O R L D C H A M P I O N S H I P ROUND 3 / JANUARY 20, 2018 ANGEL STADIUM OF ANAHEIM / ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA P62 iii My Own Race: 21 JASON ANDERSON 3RD 450SX (7-3-1) For Anderson, this was his first experience with the three-race format, and despite getting caught up with Malcolm Stewart and Broc Tickle in a pileup on the first lap of the first race, Anderson ended up taking advantage of the multi-race format. "It was my first triple crown and I battled all night," he said. Getting caught up in the first-lap pileup with Vince Friese, Broc Tickle and Malcolm Stewart might've cost him the over- all victory. "I came around about 14th and got stuck on the lip of that triple," he said of the pileup. "I was able to come around but it's so short of a race that it's hard to make up time. So I was lucky I was able to get up to seventh and salvage something out of that. It was a tough race. There was a lot of racing tonight and it was kind of crazy, it [the three-moto format] was kind of a curve ball for us and me." 34 WESTIN PEICK 5TH 450SX (4-9-5) Autotrader/Yoshimura Suzuki's Westin Peick has been a model of consistency so far this season and things were no different for him at A2. "I felt good for most of the night," he said. "I was passed by Jason Anderson halfway through the second main event, but I fought hard to pass him back. Then I got around Justin Brayton, but shortly after that I tucked the front end in a tricky section of the track. I ended up smashing my bad hand, which caused it to go numb for the rest of the race. I wasn't able to make up any positions due to my hand, so I just rode the rest of the race in ninth. The plan right now is to ride one day this upcoming week and otherwise let my hand heal up." 92 ADAM CIANCIARULO 4TH 250 (5-5-2) Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki's Adam Cianciarulo had a massive crash in the final practice session of the day and was noticeably wobbly when he got up, but he passed the concussion protocol and lined up for the three 250SX main events. He got increasingly faster throughout the three races, eventually coming up just short of winning the final main event of the night. "I think I just needed to flush my system out," Cianciarulo said. "When I got out there, everything just felt very fast, even though I was going slow. I think, as the track got a little bit more technical, I was able to put it together a little more, but my starts were terrible. I have to figure that out. The first race wasn't really me, but the last race was finally me." 22 CHAD REED 14TH 450SX (12-17-16) Husqvarna privateer Chad Reed looked better on the bike compared to the previous two rounds. "It was tough, to be honest with you," Reed said. "I felt racey, and it's the first time I've been inside the top 10 and riding with those guys, and I got beat up pretty good and got pushed around. I feel like I'm riding on the cautious side and I'm pretty aware of the people around me. The way I felt was like how it normally feels at Monster Cup after a month off or whatever, so normally you get that out of the way in October, but I'm getting it out of the way at the third race. Honestly, I feel good with the day. Taking the numbers on the paper out of it, I think we made some good progress today. I pushed my ankle harder than I have. I rode on the balls of my feet, and I felt like I rode normal. Going through the whoops, I felt like I was more normal and could attack them a little bit. I'm paying the price now. I'm sore. It's hard to push that limit in rehab or at home, and I think we pushed that limit today. I'm hoping that will give me a little bit of results on the back end." 20 BROC TICKLE 16TH 450SX (22-13-12) Red Bull KTM's Broc Tickle had a tough night at Anaheim II, starting with get-together with Malcolm Stewart and Vince Friese on the first lap of the first race. "Overall tonight it was bad starts and putting myself in a bad position to get the laps in that I needed during the main events," Tickle said. "Obviously with the schedule and the way it was
