IN THE WIND P38 MARIO ROMAN TAKES MX24 T he 2018 Extreme Enduro sea- son has officially kicked off in Europe with the 24MX Ales Trem. The French event welcomed rid- ers to Ales in the south of France for a three-lap 93-mile (150 km) race. Rockstar Energy Husqvar- na's Graham Jarvis was aiming to defend his championship at the event, but couldn't chase down Sherco rider Mario Roman after a mechanical issue slowed his ef- forts. Roman took the overall win, joined by his Sherco teammate Wade Young on the overall po- dium while Jarvis claimed second. "I'm delighted with this result," said Roman. "I felt good all week- end, winning the prologue on Saturday and now the main event is amazing. The final lap was really hard in places, but I had a good rhythm going, clearing each tough section and was able to push on to take the win." "Congratulations to Mario; he rode great," said Jarvis. "I was looking forward to battling with him on the final lap. Unfortunately my clutch got damaged and I thought my race was over but somehow Damien fixed it in a couple of minutes. That saved my race for sure. To be honest at that stage I thought finishing on the podium would be a big ask, but I was feeling really good on the TE 300i and riding really good. "The bike was performing great on the hardest sections and quite quickly I managed to make my way into third, with about three- quarters of a lap to go I was in second. But Mario was just too far ahead. I had to settle for the runner-up result." CN 1. Mario Roman (Shr) 2. Graham Jarvis (Hus) 3. Wade Young (Shr) 4.
