the 40-mile transfer to the final
two tests. Tremaine got out to
an early start, winning test one
but Oliveira would strike back,
winning the next three tests in a
row. Norman, who said he was
actually feeling even better on
day two, only topped the final
test of the day, dropping him into
third overall with a combined time
of 1:36:31. Tremaine finished out
the day only two seconds be-
hind Oliveira, giving him second
overall with a combined time
of 1:36:30. Oliveira topped the
charts at the end of two long
days of racing, taking the over-
all win with a combined time of
1:36:13. Hart would wrap up
the day a little off-pace, coming
through with fourth overall and a
time of 1:36:39.
Destry and Cooper Abbott
are one of several father/son
teams going after qualifying this
year. Destry finished out the
weekend winning the E4 (40+)
class, marking his first race back
since completing his leukemia
treatment. "It was an amazing
feeling to be back racing in the
desert again (almost two years)!"
said Abbott. It seems he's back
on pace, as he finished fourth
and fifth on days one and two,
respectively.
Cooper Abbott was kindly
instructed not to outshine dear
ol' dad, and it seems he was nice
enough to oblige, finishing eighth
and sixth. Though it might not be
much longer before the 20-year-
old steals the spotlight from his 10-
time desert champion father. CN
