CHAMPIONSHIP
VOL. 55 ISSUE 2 JANUARY 16, 2018 P47
Now, last week's winner Mar-
vin Musquin also has an early-
season DNF after dislocating his
shoulder at Houston, leaving this
year's championship wide open
for the taking.
Rockstar Energy Husqvarna's
Jason Anderson is now in the
driver's seat after taking the win
in Houston following his sec-
ond place at Anaheim I. Who
would've of thought?
In the 250SX West class,
things are moving along as
expected. The racing is close
and pretty much unpredictable.
Since Anaheim we've seen two
different top qualifiers and now
two different main-event win-
ners—this week Yamalube/Star
Racing Yamaha's Aaron Pless-
inger.
450SX
Everybody seemed to have a
prediction about this series,
but it's safe to say that very few
would've predicted that both
Musquin and Tomac would injure
themselves and miss events
before the end of the second
round in the series. Both racers
have been through the grueling
17-round championship before,
and they know what it takes to
make it to the end. To have them
knocked out of the first two
rounds is an astounding devel-
opment in a series where they
were definitely the favorites to
win.
Anderson qualified at the top
of the charts during the day, but
even during practice and qualify-
Jason Anderson
(21) reeled in Ken
Roczen for the lead
and went on to take
his first win of the
season.
