VOL. 55 ISSUE 2 JANUARY 16, 2018 P33 AEGERTER SOLE KIEFER ENTRY FOR 2019 D ominique Aegerter will be the sole rider for the Kiefer Racing Team in the 2018 Moto2 World Championship. The Swiss rider was due to partner with German former Moto3 World Champion Sandro Cortese, however, due to financial restraints, the team will only be able to field Aegerter on KTM machinery, having switched from Suter last year. "The deal with David Pickworth, who was wanting to buy the team, has unfortunately fallen through," said Jochen Kiefer, Team Manager and Technical Director. "The negotiations and talks were delayed for a long time, but in the end Mr. Pickworth had to call off the deal. It's a pity; it would have been nice if we could have continued with two riders. "The funding for this project has been secured through our longstanding partners as well as many new sponsors that Dominique has been able to bring on board. With Dominique Aegerter and KTM machinery we will certainly have a powerful package and will be capable of getting good results." CN Moto2 class veteran Dominique Aegerter will be looking to be a more consistent title challenger in 2018. It's lucky he's on the grid at all.
