CHAMPIONSHIP
VOL. 55 ISSUE 2 JANUARY 16, 2018 P57
be able to line up in Anaheim II."
NOT READY
Eli Tomac tried to ride in all three
practices in Houston but rode
away before the end of each one.
Not for lack of trying, he missed
the main event and now starts the
championship in a 48-point hole
behind Jason Anderson, and that's
assuming he can race round three
at Anaheim II. "We did every-
thing we could this week to work
through the injury but I didn't feel
right on the bike and I wasn't able
to ride at race speed," Tomac said.
"We have to think about the rest of
the season so we're going to take
it day-by-day and focus on getting
healthy for Anaheim II."
CAN'T STOP
Husqvarna privateer Chad Reed
qualified 19th in Houston as he
continues to adjust to his new
mount, on which he had less than
90 minutes of riding time prior
to round one in Anaheim. In the
main event, Reed started 13th and
was moving forward when his rear
brake went out. He finished the
main event without a rear brake, in
16th place.
BRUISER
Geico Honda's Christian Craig was
sporting a massive, baseball-sized
hematoma on his lower leg coming
into Houston, but still managed
to run near the front and finish an
impressive fifth place on the rough
and tricky racetrack.
NO-GO FOR WILSON
Rockstar Energy Husqvarna's
Dean Wilson had a massive endo
during his heat race in Anaheim a
week ago and ended up with an
injured shoulder. After going to the
doctor the Monday after Ana-
heim 1, he spent all week getting
therapy on it, but still wasn't strong
enough to line up in Houston. His
return is questionable, and on a
week-by-week basis.
CRASHED OUT
Monster Energy Yamalube Star
Racing Yamaha rookie Justin Coo-
per went down hard in the whoops
in the second 250SX practice
session of the day in Houston and
was down long enough to bring
out the red flag. He went off under
his own power, but he was forced
to sit out the evening's racing.
