WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
VOL. 55 ISSUE 1 JANUARY 9, 2018 P53
Energy Kawasaki's Eli Tomac. Tomac led the first
seven laps of the race at Anaheim I, posting the
fastest three lap times of the race in the process,
then crashed out of the lead. He got up in fourth,
then stopped in the first turn to fix his pants that
got damaged in the crash, rolled around the track
for a couple more laps, then pulled into the me-
chanics' area before retiring from the race. It was
bizarre behavior that leaves a myriad of questions,
but his team said the extent of his injuries is a con-
tusion on his left shoulder, and that they believe
he'll be back and ready to race in Houston next
weekend. After one round, he now trails Musquin
by 25 points.
In the 250SX West main, Shane McElrath
had no problems keeping the lead, which he did
throughout the main event, in what was a solid
and impressive performance by the KTM rider.
