IN THE WIND P60 MARTIN FOR 450s G eico Honda's Jeremy Martin has been slated to compete in the 250SX East Supercross Championship in 2018, which gets started in February, but his season will actually start a little sooner than that. Martin, in collaboration with the Honda HRC factory race team, will compete in the first three rounds of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series in the 450SX class. This means that the former 250MX champion will suit up for the Anaheim I, Houston and Anaheim II rounds of the series in the big-bike class. Martin has ridden a 450 in supercross once before at Daytona earlier this year. "I'm extremely excited to be lining up on the gate at Anaheim I on a factory Honda," said Martin. "I really enjoyed riding in the 450SX class at Daytona last year [2017, where he got second place] and having some success with the team, so I'm looking forward to building on that at the first three rounds of Supercross. I plan to take full advantage of this opportunity and show what I'm capable of. It will also be a good chance to get some gate drops in before I start the 250SX East Region series in Arlington." CN Jeremy Martin will compete in the 450SX class in the first three rounds of the 2018 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series. PHOTOGRAPHY BY KIT PALMER I'm not in use for anything; I'm trying everything, not bumming around, I'm trying everything I can to get this arm back go- ing, but there was such a long healing process that I was just kind of waiting and waiting and I didn't see anything getting better for a long time; it took a long time to get a little bit [better]. All in all, my arm feels pretty solid." But the arm, he admits, will never be like it was. "I'm very limited with the things I can do, like I can't throw a ball—I'm a lefty—and things like that, but, hey, as long as it's good enough for riding then I'm fine with it." Roczen has been training hard as of late, getting ready for the 2018 supercross season, and he feels that he's made good progress. "I had the best boot camp that I've ever had," he said. "I feel super fit and strong." Roczen said that one of the biggest obstacles he had to overcome was getting his shoul- der back into shape. "My shoulder [got] super- weak having been in a sling for so long. That took a long time. I had huge problems with my shoulder for a long time. I still have pain once in a while, but the shoulder problem has been solved over the last couple of weeks." Since the crash, Roczen has endured 11 surgeries and more are still on the horizon. "[I have] another possible surgery—just to get some scar tissue removed—and getting the wrist to move a little bit more, but right now I'm happy where I'm at." CN
