IN THE WIND P38 SNOW BIKES RACE FOR AMA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP F or the first time, the AMA Championship Snow Bike Series will be recognized as an AMA National Championship Series in 2018 and will award AMA National number-one plates to the top finisher of each national class at the end of the seven-round series. "We are excited to continue working with R & R Promotions to provide an AMA National Championship series for snow bike rac- ers in 2018," AMA Motocross Manager Ricky Rickords said. "The expansion of snow bike racing during the past year has been very promising, and we look forward to the continued growth and popu- larity of the sport in the future." The first round of the AMA Snow Bike National Championship Series took place in Hill City, Minnesota, December 9. CN 2018 AMA Snow National Championship Bike Series 1/19-20 (Rnd 2) Eagle River, Wisconsin 1/27 (Rnd 3) McCall, Idaho 2/10 (Rnd 4) Lake Tahoe, Nevada 2/24 (Rnd 5) Kalispell, Montana 3/11 (Rnd 6) West Yellowstone, Montana 3/24 (Rnd 7) Diamond Lake, Oregon HUTCHINSON, JOHNSTON HEAD HONDA TT EFFORT I an Hutchinson and Lee Johnston will form an all-new roads lineup for Honda Racing in 2018. Hutchinson, a 16-time Isle of Man TT winner, will be reunited with the brand for the first time since 2010, when he won all five TTs—only to suffer a near career-ending crash at Silverstone during a British Supersport race shortly after- wards. Johnston, a former British Superstock 600 Champion and three-time Isle of Man TT podium finisher and North West 200 winner, will make his first appearance on a roads factory-backed team with Honda Racing. The pair replaces the newly retired Guy Martin and John McGuinness, still recovering following his injuries suffered on the Honda CBR1000RR SP2 at the North West 200 last year. Honda Racing had nothing short of a disastrous year on the roads in 2017 with the then-new CBR1000RR SP2. Plagued by reliability problems, the SP2 suffered mechanical issues at both the North West 200 and Isle of Man TT. McGuinness suffered a badly broken leg in the North West crash and Martin incredibly escaped with nothing more than bruises after coming off at high speed at the Isle of Man, with the team withdrawing from the event shortly after. CN Snow bike racing gets AMA National Championship status starting in 2018. Hutchy (left) and Johnston are hoping 2018 is a fresh start for the Honda Racing team after a terrible 2017.
