aspect, then it fits me well and I
enjoy it."
MOTO ONE
Ashburn was second off the
line at the start of moto one, but
made short work of holeshotter
James King and took over the
lead a few turns after entering
the woods. Once in the lead,
Ashburn started gapping the
field and held about a two-min-
ute advantage over Fahringer at
the end of the first lap. How-
ever, Ashburn eased up a bit
too much and midway into the
second lap he found Fahringer
on his tail.
"I looked around and I saw
the Beta rider a 1-1-1 score for
the overall win, while Fahringer's
2-2-2 netted the Sherco rider
second. Higgins was third with a
5-3-4 tally.
Ashburn won the event in
2015, the last time the event was
held, so he was no stranger to
the rocky and difficult terrain.
"It feels good to win this
event again, I really enjoy riding
it," said Ashburn. "We won it a
couple of years ago and it feels
good to be able to come back
this year and do the same. I
think these extreme races sort
of fit my style. I've always liked
riding more technical terrain
and when you add in the racing
of the course, which allow the
spectators to watch the riders as
they try to navigate the two rocky
uphill creek beds.
The Ozark 100 Miler is hosted
by Hillbilly Racers Productions,
and as usual, the event went off
without a hitch. The Ozark 100
Miler makes sure they accom-
modate the C class, veteran and
women's riders, as well as the
pros, and the course is adjusted
accordingly. The event is scored
like a motocross race, where
one's finish in each moto deter-
mines a rider's final score.
Ashburn held off brief but
intense pressure from Fahringer
to sweep all three motos, giving
Although Nick
Fahringer was
second in all three
motos, he kept
Ashburn honest,
especially in the
night race.
