orld Superbike Champion
Jonathan Rea capped off a
stellar season by finishing the final
day fastest in the combined Mo-
toGP, WorldSBK and BSB four-day
test at Jerez, November 22-24.
Andrea Dovizioso (MotoGP,
Ducati Team) set the overall fast-
est time of the test with a new
MotoGP lap record of 1:37.663
on day four of the test and did
not ride the final day.
Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team)
proved unstoppable as he
smashed in a new WorldSBK lap
record on the factory Kawasaki ZX-
10RR, setting a time of 1:37.986
to best MotoGP riders Andrea
Iannone (Ecstar Suzuki, 1:38.030),
Pol Espargaro (Red Bull KTM,
1:38.230), Alex Rins (Ecstar
Suzuki, 1:38.230), with teammate
Tom Sykes setting a 1:38.326 to
round out the top five.
Rea was so delighted with his
pace in Andalusia that he fin-
ished the final day early, explain-
ing, "After a long hard season,
my energy levels are quite low
and we got through our checklist
for the test and I'm so happy. But
I'm looking forward to some rest,
relaxation and getting ready for
2018!"
Danilo Petrucci (Pramac
Ducati) finished fourth out of the
MotoGP contingent and sixth
overall with a 1:38.607, ahead of
WorldSBK rider Alex Lowes (Pata
Yamaha, 1:38.622), MotoGP's
Bradley Smith (Red Bull KTM,
1:38.688), Scott Redding (Aprilia
Racing, 1:38.778) and Jack Miller
(Pramac Ducati, 1:38.998). CN
