arc Marquez could have taken his
fourth MotoGP title the easy way.
Even if Andrea Dovizioso's Ducati
took the win, the Repsol Honda rider could
have cruised around safely. He only needed
to finish 11th in the last race of the year.
That is not Marquez's way. Starting from
pole position after two crashes in practice
and qualifying, he did try to play it safeāor a
bit safe. But then temptation got the better
of him, and the high drama began.
He led away in front of a capacity crowd of
more than 110,000 at the compact stadium
Ricardo Tormo Circuit outside Valencia.
Then, after three of 30 laps, he ceded the
lead to second qualifier Johann Zarco's
Monster Yamaha. With Marquez' teammate
