IN THE WIND P42 ANDERSON WINS AUS-X OPEN R ockstar Energy Husqvar- na's Dean Wilson and Jason Anderson were the big winners at the AUS-X Super- cross in Sydney, Australia, November 11-12. But An- derson came away with the overall win, thus crowned the Monster Energy AUS-X Open Sydney Champion for 2017. On Saturday night Ander- son went down in the first turn while Nathan Crawford found himself at the front of the pack. Crawford was soon passed by Dan Reardon, who led for five laps before Wilson came calling. Wilson chased down Reardon and passed him for the lead and went on to take the win. Anderson, meanwhile, charged through the pace and eventually passed Reardon for second place. Anderson had Wilson in his sights but it was too late for him to try and catch his teammate. Reardon ended up third, fol- lowed by Kade Mosig and Dean Ferris. Crawford ended up sixth. Justin Brayton was eighth (he too went down early in the race), and fellow American RJ Hamp- shire was 11th. In SX2, Wilson Todd took the win ahead of Chris Blose. Anderson stayed away from trouble in the opening lap of race two on Sunday and scored a wire-to-wire victory. Wilson chased him home in second with Brayton taking third. Hampshire improved to ninth. Sunday's SX2 win went to Blose whose race was made easier when Todd went down on the first lap. Jackson Richardson was second with Jay Wilson tak- ing third. The AUS-X Open is a part of the 2017 Australian Supercross Series, and although Brayton saw his perfect record come to an end at the AUS-X Open, he still leads the championship with 108 points. Reardon is second with 90 points, followed by Ferris (88), Dylan Long (82) and Craw- ford (74). In SX2, Richardson holds a slim five-point lead over Todd, 101-96. Wilson is third with 85 points, followed by Dylan Wills (82) and Geran Stapleton (65). Americans Faith is sixth with 63 points and Blose is eighth with 47 points. CN SATURDAY 1. Dean Wilson (Hus) 2.
