Former champ Russell Bob-
bitt, on the FMF KTM, saved
one of his best rides of the
year for last. The veteran racer
topped the second test of the
day and went on to finish fourth
overall by just six-tenths of a
second ahead of SRT Racing's
Cory Buttrick.
"It was a good day and I was
stoked to win the second test; I
think it's the same test I've won
in previous years," said Bobbitt.
"It was super flowy and it was
the kind of stuff I like. Most of
the race was super tight and
they really worked us out there
today. Evan Smith was riding
really well today and I was super-
happy for him to get his first po-
dium and then for Steward to win
the championship was cool. I
feel like I had a nice, steady day
and I'm happy to have finished in
one piece."
Sixth overall went to Solid Per-
formance Racing's Jesse Gro-
emm. "I had a pretty solid day,"
said Groemm. "I was consistent
and didn't fall down until the fifth
section and I had two bad get-
offs. I think if I had kept it on two
wheels it might have been the
difference in fifth. It was sandier
than I remembered, and I prob-
ably would have changed tires
if I had known how sandy it was
going to be."
