CN III VOICES W H A T Y O U A R E S A Y I N G "I wonder if the youngest racers realize what a big deal Tom White has been to MX." Tom White, 1949-2017 When I first met Tom White, I was finding it hard to believe that a person could be that nice of a guy. Was it possible? Or was it just an act? I had known him for many years, but in 2001, I got to spend quite a bit of time with him because we were both business own- ers that were trying to make important decisions about the future of our companies. What I came to find out about Tom was that he was the real thing— kind, caring and genuinely willing to help in any way he could. Especially when it came to anything motorcycle. His love of motorcycles and our sport was second to only his family. It makes me very sad to think Tom is gone. But when you think of all the people that have been in and around our sport over the years, you'll never find another person that had the passion and sheer joy that Tom had for motorcycles. He made a great name for himself while living a great life, and we were the lucky ones to know him. God's blessings, Tom. (John 5:28-29) Terry Vance So sorry to hear such sad news. Tom was such cool guy and such a true motorcycle en- thusiast, and he was one of my heroes. I talked with him at the last Trailblazers event. He was always so easy to chat with and such a genuine and nice person. We have lost a great icon. RIP Tom and bless- ings to your family. Jim Felton Tom was humble, down to earth, and an all around great guy that I really enjoyed talking and racing with in the '80-'90s vet rac- ing days. Tom, you will be missed! Greg Winters Tom White was genuine—a people person that exuded warmth, friendliness and folksy charm. His creations, the World Vet MX Championships and his Early Days of Motocross Museum will ensure his legacy continues. God Speed, Tom. We'll all toast to you at the race you cre- ated this weekend! Dennis "Ketch" Cox Saddened beyond words. I wonder if the youngest rac- ers realize what a big deal Tom White has been to MX. A beloved man, indeed. I spent a little time with him, but I did not know the story of his son. I hope his family is surround- ed by more love and support than they could imagine. Lance Gorton My dad had a problem with his bike and was on the side of the road. Tom happened to see him and stopped to help him get going again. Prayers for his family and may he rest in peace. Robert Schlegel I still have parts on my 1977 XT500 from him. I'll never sell that bike in his honor. Mark Joiner RIP Tom. My condolences to his family and friends. It's been years since I saw him and his brother in the days of Ascot. Lots of good times there in the late '60s and '70s. Good times.
