IN THE WIND P38 WEBB DOMINATES BOISE ENDUROCROSS C ody Webb recorded his fifth consecutive victory in the 2017 AMA EnduroCross Cham- pionship after a near-flawless night for the FMF KTM rider at the Ford Idaho Center in Boise, Idaho, November 4. Webb was the quickest in the Hot Laps, he won his qualifier, and went on to win the main event. It would've been a perfect night for Webb had it not been for Cory Graf- funder, who knocked off Webb in the single lap bracket races. But it was the main event that really mattered. Webb bullied his way to the front of the pack right off the start and never let go of the top spot. He gradually pulled away from his nearest competi- tor, Graffunder, who managed to stay close to Webb for a couple of laps until he took the No Joke Lane on the third lap, which handed Webb a comfortable 17-second lead heading into lap four of the 14-lap race. Webb's lead continued to grow as the race went on, and he eventually took the win with a 43-second cushion over Graffunder. Webb put his Super EnduroCross skill to good use on what he described was the most difficult track of the year. "This was definitely the tough- est track we've had this year," Webb said. "Boise always has a ridiculous wood pit and I fell down there five or six times in practice. I fell more in those first two practice sessions than I have all year. I really struggled early today and didn't let the track come to me. In the quali- fier I rode great. Graffunder got me in the Bracket Race. "In the main, I got the hole- shot and felt awesome," Webb said. "I had two little bobbles and a couple issues with the lap- pers in the wood pit where I was forced to just take my time. It was probably the loosest I rode all year and it feels great to get the win." Graffunder, on the SRT Off- Road-backed Husqvarna, also had a solid ride in the main but it wasn't enough to keep Webb from winning again. "Tonight was probably the most incident free, smoothest and cleanest race I've ever had," Cody Webb ran off with his fifth straight win in the 2017 AMA EnduroCross Championship, his latest success coming in Boise, Idaho.
