T
he Ducati Panigale V4 has
finally broken cover at the
EICMA Show in Milan.
The successor to the loved but
ultimately unsuccessful (in terms
of WorldSBK titles) 1299/1199
Panigale, this is the first mass-
produced V4 to come out of the
Bologna factory—not including
the limited edition Desmosedici
D16 RR of 2006—and it's pack-
ing a whopping claimed 214
horsepower at 13,000 rpm and
88 lb-ft of torque from 8750 to
12,250rpm, a brand-new chassis
and enough electronic controls
and aids to get you to the moon
and back.
With a capacity of 1103cc, the
V4 is automatically ineligible for
the 2018 WorldSBK Champion-
ship, but a racing-only 999cc V4
R will be coming later next year
that will fix that. But for us mere
mortals, we will be able to grab
either a base model V4, a V4 S
or a V4 Speciale in the coming
months.
