With Sipes securing a podium spot, it came down to two almost mythical characters, with Stank Dog facing off against Ronnie Mac. Mac got the holeshot in the first run, but as Steinke closed in, Mac dragged a foot off of his footpeg on a jump face and went down hard. He was slow to get up, but he did manage to get back to the starting line for (Left to right) Hansen, Musquin and Tickle celebrate on the Open- class podium.
