A poor start doomed 450
XC-F rider Robert to fighting
through the dust for most of the
104-mile race with its loops of
43, 40 and 21 miles. "It was my
own fault," he admitted. "I just
got on the gas too quick and it
flamed the bike out.
"I had a really good line on the
start, I felt like. I spent an hour
cleaning it up and grooming it
then everybody was in front of
me. I didn't go down one part of
my whole line!"
Robert continued, "I think I
was in the top five a few miles in,
but the dust was so bad—there
wasn't a lot of wind today—and I
was struggling with that."
