Gary Conrad rode his 360 Greeves to victory in the 90-mile race… We also
had coverage of the Cactus Derby Enduro where the winner gets his name

Our cover story 30 years ago was our coverage of the ISDE from Poland, where
East Germany went home with the victory. The USA team, made up of Mark
Hyde, Larry Roeseler, Dave Bertram, Kevin Hines, Drew Smith and Jeff
Fredette, finished seventh despite getting caught swapping riders when Hyde
got hurt the first day; his replacement rider also got hurt later on and the cat
was out of the bag… Scott Parker out-dueled
Bubba Shobert at the Sacramento Mile…
Brad Oxley wrapped up the National Speedway
Championship in Costa Mesa, California.
