VOL. 54 ISSUE 38 SEPTEMBER 26, 2017 P35 and Teo Colairo (Beta). In the International class Australia came out on top of the 13 competing nations after a close-fought contest that saw the Czech Republic team of Martin Matejicek (GasGas), Marek Wunsch (GasGas) and Martin Kroustek (TRRS) lead after an unpenalized opening lap. The Australian trio of Connor Hogan (GasGas), Kyle Middleton (GasGas) and Christopher Bayles (GasGas) held second at the halfway stage on five, two marks ahead of the United States. As the Czech challenged crumbled on lap two, Daniel Blancgonnet (Honda), Bryan Roper (GasGas) and Pat Smage (Sherco) steered the U.S. into the lead but two maximums on section 13 sealed their fate and they finished second, four marks behind Australia and five ahead of the Czech Republic. Ireland claimed fourth a further 10 marks adrift with Sweden one mark be- hind in fifth. CN SALLSTROM, LIBHART WIN WHITE ROSE HILLCLIMB J ay Sallstrom took wins in the Unlimited and 450 Pro classes when the White Rose Motorcycle Club hosted the AMA Pro Hillclimb (round five), September 24, in Jefferson, Pennsylvania. Team USA nearly won the International class but section 13 did indeed prove to be unlucky. The team still grabbed silver. It was a big weekend for Sallstrom, as his double wins catapulted him into the points lead over rival John Koester in both classes. Phil Libhart won the Xtreme and exhibition Verticross classes. In Verticross (side-by-side uphill motocross- style racing), Libhart lost his first heat, won in the loser's bracket, and staged a come-from- behind win in the final. The AMA Pro Hillclimb champions will be crown after the final round on October 8 at Oregonia, Ohio. Jeff Whitehead Jay Sallstrom won both the Unlimited and 450 Pro classes at the White Rose National Hillclimb in Pennsylvania. PHOTOGRAPHY BY JEFF WHITEHEAD UNLIMITED 1. Jay Sallstrom (Yam) 2.
