were three KTMs, with Marcos
Ramirez seventh from wildcard
and rank rookie Dennis Foggia,
then Phillip Oettl.
Erstwhile title challenger
Romano Fenati (Honda) was
10th, 1.3 seconds off the leader.
In fact, the first 13 were over the
line within two seconds.
Mir's eighth win of the year
stretched his overall lead to 80
points over Fenati, 271 to 191.
Canet has 173, Di Giannantonio
137, Martin 134.
Mir was lucky to get away
without a time penalty, after
Race Direction judged his ex-
travagant weaving at the end of
the main straight (to foil any out-
braking attack) as dangerous.
Instead, he will have a six-place
grid penalty at the next race. CN
was starting to figure up front,
and it was he who led as they
started the last lap. By then,
however, Mir had also been in
front several times, and as they
braked four abreast into the first
corner, he seized the lead again.
By the skin of his teeth
and—as was later adjudged—by
dangerous riding, he held on to
the lead to the end, to head Di
Giannantonio over the line by
0.043 of a second. Bastianini
was almost alongside in third,
and likewise Martin, Canet and
sixth-placed John McPhee (BTT
Honda).
No further behind the Hondas
Joan Mir won for the eighth time
in Moto3 to expand his points lead
even further.
