Five seconds down, Johann Zarco (Monster Yamaha) came through for ninth, closely pur- sued by Pol Espargaro's Red Bull KTM. Both had caught and passed KTM wildcard Mika Kal- lio, who had been on Bautista's tail until losing touch around half distance. Kallio was 11th, comfortably clear of Andrea Ian- none (Ecstar Suzuki). Jack Miller (Marc VDS Honda) was 13th; a couple of seconds down Scott Redding (Pramac Ducati) got the better of second Marc VDS Honda rider Tito Rabat for 14th on the last lap. Folger, Rins, Barbera and Smith were next, ahead of a fast-fading Petrucci. Crutchlow had been chasing Pedrosa in the early laps, but lost touch after running wide at the first corner, and later crashed out. Still riding with his left index finger straight out in a cast, he had been unable to reach across and adjust his front brake as needed. Karel Abraham was the only other faller.
