A
ragon was a weekend of
affirmation—once the fog
lifted. In all three classes, the
championship leaders won, each
extending their advantages. Mar-
quez, Morbidelli and Mir stamped
their authority.
There was affirmation also of the
continually growing stature of the
heroic Valentino Rossi. Back on
the bike 22 days after a double leg
fracture, he qualified on the front
row and fought for the lead before
finishing an astonishing fifth.
Something else that we already
knew was reinforced—that fast, open
tracks make for good, close motor-
cycle racing with plenty of variety. In
all classes, important positions were
changing right up to the last lap.
