I
t was a battle of the brothers at
the Lead Belt National En-
duro in Park Hills, Missouri for
round seven of the Kenda AMA
Lead Belt National Enduro Se-
ries. Right from the get-go, the
Baylors got down to business
and you knew this one was go-
ing to be a shootout between the
former enduro champ Steward
and his younger brother Grant.
Steward nipped Grant by five
seconds in the first test, but
Grant came back to win test two
by just one second over champi-
onship points leader Thad Duvall
and two seconds over Steward.
Grant, on the KR4 Arrive-n-
Ride Husqvarna, won test three
but this time by a significant mar-
gin over his brother: 16 seconds.
Duvall was another 10 seconds
back, so at this point, it looked
as though Grant might simply
ride off with this one. But no.
Unfortunately for Grant, things
started to unravel in the fourth
test and only got worse in the
fifth test. And things didn't get
any better in the sixth and final
test.
"It was really tight racing early
in the day and I felt like I was
flowing really well with the bike
and I ended up winning tests two
and three, but after that I kind of
went downhill," said Grant. "In
test four I caught up to Rus-
sell Bobbitt but I struggled with
the dust and couldn't get close
enough to pass him. Then in the
fifth test I just kind of fell apart,

strong and finished off even stronger
to win the Lead Belt National Enduro in
Missouri. (Right) Grant Baylor put himself
in position to win but struggled in the
latter half of the enduro and ended up
finishing a close second to his brother.
