ome things just happen
for a reason. Eighteen
months ago Toni Elias (Yo-
shimura Suzuki) decided to quit
road racing, having taken a Mo-
toGP win and the 2010 Moto2
World Championship. Now he's
living in Los Angeles and has
taken his and his country's first
MotoAmerica Superbike Cham-
pionship, after wrapping up a
double victory at round nine of
the series at New Jersey Mo-
torsports Park at Millville, New
Jersey.
Indeed, the weekend had
somewhat of an international
flavor, as South African Mathew
Scholtz repaid the faith Westby
Racing put in him by clinch-
ing his and his country's first
MotoAmerica Superstock 1000
Championship in race two at
New Jersey.
Elias' dominance in the pre-
mier category was matched by
Garrett Gerloff in the Supersport
