GIRROIR WINS SPEEDSVILLE AMA
EAST HARE SCRAMBLE
J
ohnny Girroir won the latest
running of the SRT-AMA East
Hare Scramble Championship
held in Speedsville, New York,
September 3.
Racing conditions were ideal
when the green flag dropped.
Heading out onto the eight-mile-
lap course, local gun Andrew
Gross led the way off the start,
but it was Girroir and GNCC
regular Andrew DeLong running
first and second, respectively.
In third was Ryder Lafferty, fol-
lowed by championship leader
Wally Palmer, who had a bad
start but fought his way through
the field.
The order of the top four
stayed that way through two laps
when Girroir pitted early, hand-
ing DeLong the lead. Girroir,
however, got right back on him
and the two battled it out for the
lead. The two swapped positions
a number of times until Girroir
took control at the end, though
he could never let up. Girroir
took the checkers just ahead of
DeLong, with Lafferty finishing
under a minute back in third.
Palmer took fourth.
Defending champ Kyle Mc-
Donal rode but was dealing with
a broken foot and finished 10th.
The top Youth racer was Ben
Wright in 11th overall, topping the
B 200 class.
