WEIMER TO MOTOCONCEPTS
J
ake Weimer, the former RCH Suzuki and fac-
tory Kawasaki rider, will ride a MotoConcepts
Racing Honda in 2018. Weimer, whose most
recent gig was filling in for the JGRMX Suzuki
Team, will join returning riders Justin Brayton and
Jeff Friese in a supercross-only deal. All three will
compete in the 450SX class.
"While looking to add a third 450 rider, we had
multiple ex-champions to choose from," said team
manager Tony Alessi. "After speaking with Jake,
we felt with the proper training, testing and time to
prepare, Jake will possess the needed confidence
to perform at a high level. It is our believe Jake has
plenty left in the tank to be competitive."
Weimer will make his MotoConcepts/Honda
debut at the Monster Energy Cup in Las Vegas,
October 14. CN

LOWES RETURNS TO MOTO2
T
he Luthi signing laid to rest
rumors that Aprilia cast-off
Sam Lowes might move in to
the Honda team. By the end
of race weekend at the British
GP, the Briton's return to Moto2
was confirmed, and the circle
completed.
The former Moto2 race
winner and title challenger will
instead take Luthi's place in
the well-established Interwet-
ten team, currently sponsored
by CarXpert. His goal, he told
press, was "to win the title…
I've got unfinished business
there."
Lowes won two races in
2016, but a number of crashes
cost him the chance to rival
Zarco for the title. One was at
last year's British GP, where
he'd qualified on pole and was
leading when Zarco punted
him off.
