MX FINAL ROUND SHAKEDOWN
T
he final round of the 2017 Lu-
cas Oil AMA Pro Motocross
Championship had many of the
race teams making news long
before the gate dropped for the
first moto at the Ironman National
in Crawfordsville, Indiana, August
26. Many riders announced
during the week leading up to
the race that they would not be
suiting up, including Frenchman
Dylan Ferrandis (Yamalube/Star
Racing Yamaha) who suffered a
broken wrist the weekend before
at the Budds Creek National
in Maryland. As a result, he
dropped from fifth to sixth in
the final 250MX Championship,
and he might have to sit out the
upcoming Motocross of Nations,
as well, which will be a big blow
for Team France.
Monster Energy/Pro Cir-
cuit/Kawasaki's Joey Savatgy
(250MX) said he wouldn't suit
up either, as he was still both-
ered by a foot injury suffered at
Unadilla the week before Budds
Creek, which he sat out as well.
Since Unadilla, he's dropped
from third to fifth in the final
standings.
The Rockstar Energy Husqvar-
na Team announced that Martin
Davalos wasn't going to race
either. A knee injury sustained at
Budds Creek is keeping him off
the bike. Skipping the final round
caused him to drop two posi-
tions to ninth in the final 450MX
standings.
Anthony Rodriguez an-
nounced on Instagram that he
had broken his arm at Budds
Creek and would be out of action
for a while, too. The privateer
wrote: "…will be back to riding in
six weeks."
But the news wasn't all bad
leading up to the race. It ap-
pears that defending MXGP
World Champion Tim Gajser
(Team Honda) has signed up to
race the Monster Energy Cup
in October, and the U.S. MX of
Nations Team debuted the livery
it will be wearing in England in a
