MOTOCROSS LUCAS OIL AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIPS ROUND 11 / AUGUST 19, 2017 BUDDS CREEK RACEWAY / BUDDS CREEK, MARYLAND P56 second overall. "I just feel like I was in Baggett and Tomac's position [from the first moto] in the second moto, where a guy like Cooper Webb tries just to kill me..." Musquin said. "Like, he's trying everything he can just to, you know, suicide mode? I just tried to be safe and get around him, and man, that was tough. I lost a lot of time, but the start was just really bad, and that's all me, so I just got a bad start in that second moto, and then it was tougher than in the first moto to come back, so I came back to fourth place, and that's all I could do in that second moto. "The track could get pretty enough for the win. "Justin [Bogle] rode really well, and he was just hitting his lines really clean. The lappers were tough, too; when [the track only had one line], they didn't want to go off the line into the mud or something, so it's hard. But we've got a second moto, and we got points again, because the other guys weren't that close to me, so it's good." But in the second moto, Musquin ended up in the situ- ation Baggett and Tomac were in during the first moto—stuck behind guys just fast enough to make passing very difficult. The best he could do was fourth, and the 2-4 was still good for the rain, there's pretty much one main line," Musquin said. "It's hard when you switch lines. I lost so much time in the off-camber there, and it was tough. I ran out of tear-offs pretty quick; I was just pulling tear-off after tear- off trying to get around [Blake] Baggett, and he got me because I made mistakes, and I get him again, and he got me again, and I'm like, 'I'm not going to stay here the whole moto, I've got to go!' At one point, I thought I had it, but then he passed me back again; I couldn't believe it. I lost so much time there. Then, I was by myself and trying to put in some good laps. I caught the two guys in front, but it was not My Own Race: 6 JEREMY MARTIN 4TH 250MX (2-6) Jeremy Martin, who has been confirmed to be staying in the 250cc class for at least one more year with the Geico Honda team, got near the front in the first moto, but couldn't quite do anything with eventual winner Adam Cianciarulo. He finished second. "I felt pretty good," Martin said. "I got off to a good start, and AC was there and just edged me out. We had a good pace going, along with my teammate RJ [Hampshire] and I felt like I had the speed to maybe get Adam [Cianciarulo], but he was just riding really well. He was on rails out there, and we hit some lappers, and he kind of got away. I tried to reel him back in, but like I said, he was on rails, and that's the beauty of the great outdoors: We still have moto two." Unfortunately, in moto two, while running third in a freight train from Shane McElrath, Zach Osborne, Martin and Cianciarulo, Martin went down, and ended up sixth. 31 RJ HAMPSHIRE 6TH 250MX (3-7) In both motos at Budds Creek, RJ Hampshire couldn't do anything with his Geico Honda teammate Jeremy Martin. In the first moto, he stuck right to Martin's tail for the entire moto on his way to third. "We're doing the right thing back home," Hampshire said. "Everyone from Crossfit and Dave, we've got a good program going. That felt good. We got off to a good start, and then just having the 6 [Mar- tin] there the whole moto, that was fun. I mean, AC was out front, and we were kind of matching each other the whole moto—all three of us were—and then we hit some lappers, and that held us up, but let's see about that second moto. I want that overall. So, we're going to go for it." But the start killed Hampshire in moto two, starting outside the top 10, the best he could muster was seventh, once again just behind the 6.
