T
he 2017 running of the Budds Creek MX Nation-
al—the penultimate round of the 12-round Lucas
Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championships—gave the
motocross world five firsts in just one day: The first-ever
overall podium finish for Justin Bogle in a professional
motocross event. The first-ever overall win for Bogle in
a professional motocross event. The first-ever moto win
for Adam Cianciarulo in a professional motocross event.
The first-ever overall win for Cianciarulo in a profession-
al motocross event. And the first-ever National Champi-
onship for Zach Osborne.
For Osborne specifically, the fact that he clinched
the title at Budds Creek of all places – the very same
track where, in 2006, Osborne turned an amazing
show of talent and ability into the perhaps the worst
fade in the history of the sport. As a 17-year-old rookie,
Osborne led eight laps of the first moto at Budds
Creek, but in the last six laps, he faded to 18th—without
falling a single time—and finished one minute and 18
seconds behind winner Ryan Villopoto. It led to him
having to go to Europe to find a ride.
Now, 11 years later, having traveled the world racing
motorcycles, started a family and put everything on the
FIRSTS!
