BARREDA AND BRABEC LOWER THE BOOM
IN VEGAS-TO-RENO WIN

he General Tire Vegas to
Reno, Presented by Fox,
boasted one of deepest Open
Pro fields in its 21-year history,
predictably leading to an intense
pace for all. The August 18 event
quickly became a two-team
battle for the lead, though a
few issues saddled both along
the way. At the finish in Dayton,
Monster Energy Honda Team's
Joan Barreda and Ricky Brabec
owned the win, finishing the
540-mile dash in eight hours, 56
minutes and 23 seconds, unof-
ficially, despite a Brabec get-off
about halfway through the race
that caused quite a bit of dam-
age to their works HRC CRF450
Rally. That made them the fastest
vehicle overall as well, beating all
of the cars and trucks.
Rockstar Energy Husqvarna
Factory Racing Off-road Team's
Jacob Argubright soloed last
year and finished third. This year
he asked Dalton Shirey to be his
partner; it would be Shirey's first
big race after surgery for a knee
injury early this year.
