and that's what I did for 20 min-
utes. It was a shorter moto and I
just controlled the race."
Musquin's dominance in the
mud scored him 15 more points
on the day than any other racer
on the track, and moved him
to within four points of second-
placed Baggett in the series and
within 31 points of points leader
Eli Tomac.
Davalos went 8-2 for second
overall, nearly passing Musquin
a couple of times in the early
moments of the second moto
and finishing less than 10 sec-
onds back, and 15 seconds in
front of third place.
"Just learning how to ride a
450," Davalos said of his mas-
sive improvement on the big-
ger bikes. "I mean, the start of
the season was a little tough.
We didn't have much time on
the bike and just putting a lot
of work down in Florida with
my trainer Timmy Ferry, BJ my
physical trainer, just changing
a little bit on my body. I just feel
great. The team is doing such
a good thing for letting me ride
the 450. Today was incred-
ible. Just to get second in the
second moto, and in these kind
of conditions. I knew I had to be
positive and smart. There was
a lot of standing water and lap-
pers made it difficult at the end,
to try and stay safe and not get
too out of control."
Honda's Cole Seely isn't ex-
actly known as a mud racer, but
at Unadilla, he sloshed his way
to third in the opening moto.
"I felt really fast in the begin-
ning," Seely said. "I was mak-
ing some really good passes,
showing some good speed
and then the rain started com-
ing. For how much it rained,
I couldn't believe how much
traction there still was. Had a
few sketchy moments. Actually
that last lap, before they pulled
Martin Davalos made a run at
Musquin in the second 450MX moto.
