Three other teams, each run-
ning 1000cc machines in various
dress, joined the Top 1 Ack At-
tack team in their trek to Bolivia:
Ralph Hudson, Al Lamb and the
Salimbeni Genetti Racing team.
All three teams were able to set
world-record speeds on the
Salar, though only two left with
their records.

in Uyuni, setting the first-ever
South American world land-
speed record on Sunday, August
6. After a week of wondering
whether or not his container
would ever reach the Boliv-
ian salt, Lamb was relieved to

racer on Saturday, and eager to
make a solid run on Sunday.

265 mph – enough to qualify for
a new world record on a sit-on
partially streamlined motorcycle.
His return run was a speed of
266 for an average of 265.8
mph—a new world record.
But Lamb's glory wasn't to
last, as the next day, Ralph
Hudson and his Hailwood racing
Suzuki GSX-R1000-powered
machine (competing in the same
class as Lamb) hit the salt for
a blistering speed. Like Lamb,
Hudson had his share of chal-
lenges. He burned up a clutch
on Friday, spent Saturday trou-
ble-shooting, then had a single
run of 274 mph on Sunday but
promptly overheated. Monday,
the final day of the event, proved
