LUCAS OIL AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP
ROUND 10 / AUGUST 12, 2017
UNADILLA VALLEY SPORTS CENTER / NEW BERLIN, NEW YORK

out back. It was a good, hard-
fought moto. We're still in this
thing. Just plugging away, doing
the best we can."
However, in the much slop-
pier second moto, Baggett gave
about half of those points right
back to Tomac, finishing 11th to
Tomac's fifth.
Still, Baggett gained some
points on Tomac on the day, and
he now sits just 27 points behind
Tomac with four motos left to
run.
Baggett made up 11 points on
Tomac in the first moto, finishing
second to Tomac's 10th.
"It started out awesome,"
Baggett said. "Sitting on the
starting line, little bit of sprinkle.
Probably going to make the track
perfect. And then got out there
and it just started dumping. So,
I ran out of tear-offs really early.
I think I was still in third when I
ran out of tear-offs, so I just tried
to pick my battles and choose
them wisely because the mud
was bad. Once it started raining
heavy I tried to make a charge
at Marv. The rain was actually
cleaning the goggles, so it was
literally, completely clear going
us off, I ran out of tear-offs. I
pulled my goggles and the rain
was just coming in my face really
hard. It was like standing in the
shower. It hurt. So, the only time
I was really happy to see red-
cross flags and then red-flag it.
I saw the lightning after halfway.
I knew once that happens, it's
kind of an indicator that the race
is about to end."
The second moto was some-
thing else entirely. Seely ran as
high as fourth until late in the
moto, when Yamaha's Cooper
Webb and Tomac both went
around him while he struggled
with his vision, but the 3-6 score
still put Seely third overall.
Cole Seely shined in the mud.
(Right) Points leader Eli Tomac
played it safe in the nasty conditions
to preserve his large points lead,
which did shrink a bit to Musquin.
