get through the section. Other
sections were also creating chal-
lenges for the riders, and after
the first loop, the scores were
higher than Saturday's totals.
However, Bou showed why he is
the 21-time world champion, hav-
ing a masterful first loop drop-
ping only three points. Busto
was trailing in second with 10
Abellan (Beta) was third with 31
points.
Saturday night brought in
some thunderstorms and some
moisture to the course. The dirt
was moist but the rocks became
slippery. The course for Sunday
was also changed up a bit, mak-
ing some of the sections very
challenging. Section three on
Sunday was causing all kinds of
trouble for the riders. Many of
current world champion, Great
Britain's Emma Bristow (Sherco),
started her quest for a fourth
consecutive world championship
with a win, scoring an impressive
14 points. Germany's Theresa
Bauml (Beta) was second with
28 points, and Spain's Berta
