VOL. 54 ISSUE 30 AUGUST 1, 2017 P69
Despite some struggles early
in the day, by the time the 25-lap
AFT national came to the line,
current series points leader
Jared Mees had his Indian Mo-
torcycle/Rogers Racing-backed
Indian Scout FTR750 dialed in.
"Earlier in the day, I wasn't that
good," said Mees. "We didn't
qualify that good [eighth] and
lost the heat [second to Sammy
Halbert]. We just put our heads
together and did this and that,
then the motorcycle was just
phenomenal. I feel like anybody
could have jumped on that thing
and rode that thing and won on
it. It was so good..."
The Estenson Racing Team
parked their Harley-Davidson
XR750 for Sammy Halbert and
brought their Yamaha FZ-07
back out. It proved to be a wise
choice as Halbert continues
to be a thorn in the side of the
Indian Wrecking Crew.
(Above) Mees got
off to a fast start
and took control of
the main event.
(Left) Even a
restart didn't faze
Mees.
(Right) The
only rider who
was capable
of challenging
Mees was Sammy
Halbert, who ended
up second.
