Trey Canard talked more about his
sudden retirement (see In The Wind).
"These last couple little bits that I've
had have just been a little too much,
mentally," Canard said. "It's hard
for me to go out and believe that
everything's going to be okay, and
that I can go do well, and it's just kind
of plagued me mentally. I just feel
that if I've got that in the back of my
head, one, I can't go race safely, but
two, I don't feel like I can represent
the people that are behind me like
they need to be represented. So,
it's been very difficult for the last two
weeks. It's been pretty rough for me.
But it's something that I really feel
that I believe needs to happen."
With Broc Tickle being out injured for
the remainder of the year, the RCH
Suzuki team picked up Matt Bisceg-
lia to fill in starting at Millville. Bisceg-
lia was originally slated to race for the
JGR Suzuki squad during the 250cc
Eastern Regional SX Series and
250MX Nationals, but suffered a bro-
ken leg before the year began, fol-
lowed by another one when he was
trying to get up to speed following
the first break. Coming off the couch,
so to speak, he challenged for the
lead in the first few turns of moto
one at Millville, eventually finishing
10th, and then calling it a day, as he
felt unfit to do it a second time in the
very hot and humid conditions. "All
in all, I'm really happy with my day,"
Bisceglia said. "Practice went good
and I really got comfortable with my
Suzuki RM-Z450. First moto came
up, I got a good gate pick and ripped
a really good start. I hung up front,
hung with those guys for as long as I
could. Towards the end of the moto,
I was fighting some heat exhaustion,
which I wasn't too pumped about,
but I still ended up in the top 10.
Unfortunately, I didn't have enough
left in the tank for the second moto.
It was a huge accomplishment for
me, even if I was only able to do it for
one moto this weekend; it was still
huge for me because I haven't raced
in almost a year."
The sophomore blues have hit
Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawa-
saki's Austin Forkner. The 2016
AMA Rookie of the Year was battling
for podiums throughout the early
rounds of the series, but he crashed
out of Southwick and then suffered a
concussion prior to Millville that put
him out for the event. He currently
sits 10th in points.
