C
hampionships are won
on your bad days. This
is something the GOAT,
Ricky Carmichael, often said.
At Millville, Monster Energy
Kawasaki's Eli Tomac had a
rough go of it in both motos,
with a bad start resulting in a
hard-fought second-place in
the first moto, and then two
early falls in moto two making
things even tougher on him.
Still, in the end, he ended
the day gaining a point on his
closest championship rival,
Rocky Mountain ATV-MC
KTM's Blake Baggett.
And in the 250MX class,
points leader Zach Osborne
should've lost a grip of points
when his bike evacuated all of
its coolant with about 10 min-
utes still left to go in the first
moto. Instead, he managed
to finish the race (eighth) and
then win the second moto,
dropping only two points to his
closest championship rival.
At the end of the 2017 sea-
son, if Tomac and Osborne
end up winning the outdoor
titles, we will be able to look
back at Millville and see what
made the titles a reality.
