R
ed Bull KTM's Antonio Cairo-
li and Pauls Jonass both so-
lidified their places at the top of
the championship leaderboard
after topping their respective
classes at the Grand Prix of the
Czech Republic at Loket, July
24. Cairoli used a 3-1 to claim
the overall victory in the MXGP
division, while Jonass went 2-1
to take the MX2 overall victory.
Cairoli now enjoys a super-
comfortable 92-point lead over
Clement Desalle (second overall
in MXGP), 523-431; in MX2,
Jonass opened up his lead over
Jeremy Seewer (second overall
in MX2) to 47, 548-501.
HRC Honda's Tim Gajser won
the first MXGP moto, leading the
whole way after taking the lead
from Desalle on the first lap.
Desalle narrowly held off Cai-
roli to take second, while Rock-
star Energy Husqvarna's Gautier
Paulin bested Red Bull KTM's
Jeffrey Herlings for fourth.
Gajser led the early stages
of moto two before giving way
to both Cairoli and
Desalle, who went on
to finish 1-2, respec-
tively. Gajser lost
one more spot late in
the race to Herlings.
Still, Gajser's 1-4 was
enough to get him on
the podium at the end
of the day.
American Thomas
Covington won the
first MX2 moto in what
started on a wet and
muddy track, follow-
ing a brief downpour.
